SmoothEdge x Pin Gin
This summer, Pin Gin unveiled a bold rebrand, showcasing beautiful new bottles designed with sustainability in mind. Not only are these bottles sleek and eye-catching, but they’re also 205g lighter than the previous design, reducing the amount of raw material used and lowering transport emissions.
At SmoothEdge, we’re proud to collaborate with Pin Gin on a project that aligns perfectly with our mission of upcycling waste into meaningful, sustainable products.
Turning Waste into Opportunity
Pin Gin’s distillery is always bustling with activity. From their popular Gin school and Rum School to Tour & Taste experiences and craft nights, the distillery bar generates a lot of glass bottle waste. Recognising the need to improve sustainability, even in small ways, Pin Gin turned to us to help reduce their environmental impact.
By working together, we’ve found a way to upcycle their used bottles into stunning candle containers, combining sustainability with premium craftsmanship.
Sustainability by Design
Upcycling Pin Gin bottles into candle containers instead of producing new glass containers has a massive environmental benefit. Upcycling an existing bottle the SmoothEdge way, requires over 100 times less energy than manufacturing a new one from raw materials. This means every candle represents a significant reduction in carbon emissions, making it an eco-friendly choice that doesn’t compromise on style or quality.
The Candle Creation Process
Once we upcycled Pin Gin’s bottles into sleek, reusable candle containers, they were then filled with eco-friendly soy wax by Hobo & Co.; Pin Gin's local candle maker.
These candles are another beautiful example of how collaboration and upcycling can create something truly unique.
